Lines were long everywhere, especially the coffee shop (which, for some reason, has only 1 staff member and espresso machine to service all guests' needs, including basic coffee and hot water). The host and servers were however careful and diligent about asking about food allergies. I definitely recommend having dinner off-resort in San Miguel for better quality Mexican food. After a few days, we took a taxi into town to get groceries at Mega and were much happier. The worst Mexican food we've ever had was, sadly, here in Cozumel at Secrets. There were several dishes and meals that were simply inedible. I would recommend the The food was very low quality. We found large jugs of water at Mega and used those. Being so proximal to biodiverse marine life, this gap of environmental ethics astounded us. However, the resort only supplied small bottles of water. With tap water being non-potable, bottled water is the drinking source for travelers. We explored options for leaving early and getting an AirBnB in San Miguel. In our friend's room, the bath faucet became detached from the wall shooting water into the room and on the beds. We encountered black mold in our room, stained mirrors and sheets, lights falling out of the ceiling, and doors off the hinges. The rooms are very dated and in states of disrepair. However, we were ultimately dismayed about the state of the resort and rooms, rowdy nature of the other resort guests, persistent noise, and food. We saw some negative reviews but had a difficult time judging their merit. We initially booked this resort based on a recommendation and proximity to diving sites.
